The weather is finally cooling down, so Supertunias by Proven Winners® are back. Here are three fun facts.
One: Petunias need at least six hours of direct sunlight. Proven Winners says it best: sun equals energy, and they need this energy to keep producing more flowers because flowers require lots of energy to produce. They also do best with consistent watering. If planted in the ground, follow our watering schedule. If planted in pots, water once the first inch of soil dries out.
Two: Producing countless flowers works up an appetite, so make sure to fertilize. A balanced, granular formula like Espoma Organic® Plant-Tone® or our Kerby’s Special works well. You can also try a liquid fertilizer higher in phosphorus to promote more flowers.
And three: Supertunias are technically self-cleaning with no deadheading necessary, but it never hurts. Traditional petunias do require deadheading; old blooms can damage new flowers and foliage. When doing so, merely pluck old blooms.
