What to Protect from the Cold
Below is a quick guide for what plants to protect and which ones you don’t need to worry about when frost or freeze is headed our way. It is not an exhaustive list.

- Tropical Fruit Trees: Mango, Avocado, Lychee, Banana, Papaya, Sapote, Jackfruit, Barbados Cherry, Cherry of the Rio Grande, and many more
- Low-Chill Fruit Trees: Peach, Apple, Pear, Plum, and Nectarine (they need cold weather)
- Citrus: Lemons and Limes
- Other Fruits: Fig, Persimmon, Olive, Mulberry, most Citrus, Blueberry, Grape, Blackberry, Pomegranate, Pecan
- Croton
- Hardy Shrubs: Viburnum, Ligustrum, Boxwood, and Indian Hawthorne
- Ti Plant
- Rose
- Hibiscus
- Camellia
- Bougainvillea
- Gardenia
- Princess Flower (Tibouchina)
- Juniper
- Allamanda
- Buddleia
- Panama Rose
