Easter is early this year! It almost crept up on us, but in a flurry of stuffing, the girls got all 6000 eggs stuffed and ready to go for this year’s Easter Egg Hunt. Of course, because it isn’t enough to just stuff the eggs and put them in a box, they constructed a little slide to allow them to stuff more quickly and move on to the next.
Part of me had this vision of the old I Love Lucy episode where Lucy and Ethel go to work in a chocolate factory. At first the conveyor won’t work, so they sit back, but then it starts going and going and eventually moves way too fast for them to wrap chocolates, and Lucy starts stuffing them in her cheeks. I just hope Maddy and Abby didn’t eat as many chocolates as Lucy did…
The staff is already strategizing on where to hide the eggs this year. We love hiding some in easy spots and some in more challenging places. And because there are so many, we always end up finding a few missed eggs over the following weeks.
Which reminds me of an Easter Egg Hunt when I was a kid. Our family tradition on Easter was to hunt for eggs inside the house that we colored (hard-boiled eggs) and the typical plastic eggs outside. My mom was usually very organized with the hunts. She knew what she’d hidden and where so that each egg would be found, and each kid would get their fair share. But one year, we lost track of an egg. A hard-boiled egg. Inside the house. Oh, we found it eventually, when it started to smell pretty bad! Fortunately, what we are hiding at the nursery won’t give us that problem.
We hope to see you this Saturday. I think the Easter Bunny will make another appearance, and we love seeing the kids find thousands of eggs in what feels like a few short minutes of chaos. Remember, the hunt starts at 10 am sharp, so make sure to get here early to get a parking spot and an egg-sighting spot. And of course, we’ll be closed this Sunday to celebrate Easter. May you find all of your hidden eggs and enjoy a little extra Easter candy.
