You wonder what I’m going to ask you, don’t you? It’s this: When did you stop having fun? When did you stop imagining? When did you stop believing in the impossible?
This journey through life is tough sometimes. We start as children with big, bright imaginations, and then along the way, adulting sort of takes it out of us. We stop seeing joy and fun around us. We stop imagining things and ask “why?” more than we ask “why not?” We don’t stop to smell the roses or look into the clouds and imagine dragons, lions, and alligators going by.
But you don’t have to stop! As we enjoy our Thanksgiving holiday today and turn the corner into the Christmas season, I encourage you to rediscover Joy. Rediscover Fun. Rediscover Wonder. Put down your phone, turn off the TV, get outside, and run barefoot through the grass like you were six years old again! Do something to recapture those feelings that we put aside sometimes as we age.
To help you, tomorrow at the nursery, we begin our season of Return to Wonder. Come experience Florida Snow, a fun scavenger hunt through the Nursery, and lots of picture spots, perfect for silly faces and goofy poses. Come have some fun with us! Sing us a Christmas Carol and you can pick a coupon from Santa’s Hat. And see the schedule here for some other fun we have planned, including Elf Yoga and musical performances.
Of course, since today is Thanksgiving, I can’t close the newsletter until I’ve shown my gratitude. I’m thankful for you, for everyone who comes into the nursery, reads this newsletter, and shares their gardening journey with us. And for the amazing staff that work hard to make Kerby’s a positive influence in our community. In just the same way that we shouldn’t stop having fun or being filled with wonder, we should never stop being grateful. So, Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your day, and when the mall or big stores become too much for you, come see us and recapture joy, fun, and imagination as we Return to Wonder.
