Celebrating Milestones

This newsletter was written on a bus as Kim and I traveled through the countryside of Spain. Spinning windmills line the tops of distant mountains and an ocean of olive trees stretches as far as the eye can see. The sights and experiences in Spain have been amazing, but I’ll tell you more about those in another newsletter. Today it’s not about what I’m doing, it’s about who I’m doing it with that makes the magic.

Olive Orchards in Spain

Fifteen years ago today, Kim and I said ‘I do’ and it also happens to be the same day that we went on our first date together twenty-seven years ago. For us, that’s more than half a lifetime spent together. And so far, it has been an amazing ride. Over the years, we’ve weathered the ups and downs of life, experiencing good times and not-so-good times. But through sickness or health, we’ve always been there for each other. And that’s what you need to make a great life together. You need someone who has seen you at your worst to then push you to be your best. Someone who isn’t afraid to leap into the dark with you, knowing that whatever adventure is coming, it will be better together. We’ve come a long way over twenty-seven years, and I can’t wait to see what the next half of our lifetime has to offer.

Kim and Joey 1994 Homecoming

Now that Kim and I have celebrated our milestone, we are turning our attention to the big milestone Kerby’s has coming up. We are a little under a month away from turning 40! And we know that Kerby’s wouldn’t have reached middle age if it wasn’t for your love of gardening. So, share your garden with us. You can send in a little story if you have it via e-mail to [email protected]. Send along pictures of your gardens too. Let us see and share some beautiful Kerby’s plants in action. We plan to highlight a different story or garden each week throughout the year.

And since we are entering a new decade, we are trying new things. On Sunday, February 23rd at 10am, we will have our first plant swap at the nursery, hosted by @tampabaeplants. You can find information about the plant swap here. And of course, our events page has our schedule of seminars and events. A lot of fun stuff is about to start happening and who knows, maybe we’ll create some milestones worth celebrating along the way.

Happy Gardening,

Plants Want to Grow!

100 mile-per-hour winds, torrential rains, falling trees, heavy equipment, and pruning were thrown at Joey’s bushes, and they just kept on growing.
