Fall in Florida

For at least the third time in the last 20 years, a major hurricane was forecast to come directly into our area and for the third time it turned away. I’d like to say I’m happy, but seeing the pictures from south of us is just tough to stomach. That could have been our area. We got away with some trees down, minor damage, and power outages. The greater Tampa area is lucky for sure.

But I’m tired of talking about hurricanes. Let’s talk fall! The weather post-Ian has been amazing. Cooler mornings than we’ve had since May and lovely afternoons with just the right amount of sun-kissed warmth. As you are putting your yards back together, don’t forget about all of the beautiful plants that Fall in Florida offers.  Here are a few of the things that will be happening at the nursery in the coming month:

First, the pumpkin patch is now slated to be open this Friday. We apologize for the delay and are just grateful that we got our pumpkins in before the hurricane. The Pumpkin Wall is the perfect place for a fall family photo, and you can find this year’s jack-o-lantern.

There isn’t a seminar this Saturday, but next Saturday, October the 15th will be our Fall Container Seminar. Flower expert Jo will teach you all about thrillers, fillers, and spillers and how to create beautiful pots for your porches and patios.

And the Butterfly Gardening Seminar that was supposed to be this past Saturday is rescheduled for Saturday, October 29th at 10am.  Come on out in your Halloween costumes (I’ll be dressed as Indiana Jones) and come learn all about butterfly gardening in Florida.

Fall in Florida is a beautiful time of year. Get out in your garden and enjoy it!

Happy Gardening,
