What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday – Saturday, 9am – 5pm and Sunday, 11am – 4pm.

What is your holiday schedule?

We are open every day of the year, except for Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, December 26th, and New Year’s Day. On other holidays, such as Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, the day prior to Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve, we will typically be open until noon.

Are you ever closed due to weather?

We try our best to stay open, even in poor weather. If for some reason extremely hazardous weather is in our area (such as heavy thunderstorms, tornado watches, or tropical weather), we may close early due to the lack of protected areas at the nursery. This is for the safety of our customers and our staff. If hazardous weather is in our area, please call to confirm that we are open at 813-685-3265.

Do you accept credit cards?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and debit cards. We also accept cash.

Do you have a restroom on the premises?

Yes. We have two clean restrooms for public use.

Do you take special orders?

Sort of. If we do not have a plant you are looking for, we will make every attempt within reason to locate the plant for you. If it is a plant from a vendor whose products we normally carry, we should be able to determine the availability quickly. Sometimes we may not be able to take special orders, e.g., if they are for products that are unavailable in our area or for products which would require a minimum shipment to obtain a single item. If you are having trouble locating a particular item, talk with one of our knowledgeable staff, they may be able to help you find an alternative that is readily available.

Do you offer delivery?

We offer delivery within Hillsborough County for any of our products. Please see our Delivery and Installation page for more information.

Do you offer installation services?

We offer our Professional Installation Services for large plant installations. Large plants are classified as those in 15-gallon containers or larger (this also includes balled and burlapped (B&B) trees). Please see our Delivery and Installation page for more information.

Do you have planting instructions?

We sure do – please visit our Kerby’s Planting Instructions page and watch our video on how to plant in the ground. The single most common mistake we see is plants being planted too low in the ground. Always plant level with the surrounding soil, and make sure to account for mulch as well.

How often should I water my plants?

All plants will have different watering requirements, but there are a few rules of thumb to follow. Our typical recommendation for your new plants is to water daily for the first month, every other day for the second month, and twice per week in the third month. Thereafter, most plants can be considered established and will thrive on one good soaking per week. Always water in the morning, and never water if a plant is already over-saturated. These are general rules, and many plants may have different watering needs. Please visit our Kerby’s Watering Instructions page and watch our video for additional details. Call or come in and talk to one of our staff if you have a specific question about a plant’s water needs.

May I bring my pet to the nursery?

Yes, we enjoy having your furry family members visit us. They must be kept on a leash (or in a travel container) for the comfort and safety of our other guests and staff. We provide water for thirsty pets; please ask us if your pet is starting to pant. We hope you’ll bring your pet to visit us each year at our annual Plants and Pets Event (typically held in August).
