How to Create Simple Container Gardens

You don’t need elaborate container gardens to create a statement.

For table-top centerpieces, keep it simple and plant one or two small flowers in a single pot. These are vincas (photo above, front right), they’re annuals in our grow zone. If you’re potting perennials like these pentas (photo above, front left), which are great for butterfly gardens, you can easily transplant them to a larger pot or plant them in the ground once they outgrow this smaller container.

You can also mix and match just two different plants to create a beautiful arrangement. Place taller plants in the back or center of the pot and trailing plants around the perimeter so they spill over. This is Blue My Mind Evolvulus and purple Angelonia (photo above, back).

Make sure to use a well-draining soil, fertilize to promote new growth, water once the first inch of soil dries out, and you’ll have a stunning container garden.

Anybody can sell you plants, we make sure you succeed.
