If your answer is “yes,” here are some flower options:

Choose plants with vibrant, tubular flowers. Hummingbirds prefer red, orange, and pink blooms where they’ll use their long tongues to sip the nectar.

For sunny, perennial gardens, try flowering shrubs such as Firebush (also available in a native variety), Firecracker, Cape Honeysuckle, or Hibiscus. All of these bloom practically year-round.

For container gardens or smaller spaces, the Proven Winners® Rockin’® Salvias are a magnet for hummingbirds. Joey even wrote about seeing some in his garden a few weeks ago thanks to these blooms.

If you want something that vines, the Coral Honeysuckle is a great option and it’s native.

If your garden is shadier, try Fuchsia, Heliconia, White Candles, Mona Lavender, or Torenia for our sub-tropical grow zone.

And hummingbirds actually nest spring through summer, so now is the time to plant since they’ll need lots of energy as new parents and to support their speedy lifestyle — roughly 200 wingbeats per second!

Anybody can sell you plants, we make sure you succeed.
