Where Does the Time Go?

You know how one moment you feel like you’ve got all of the time in the world to get something done, and then the next minute you are crunching up against a deadline? I felt that way with the newsletter today. I was bouncing some fun stories around in my head, and then before I knew it, it was Wednesday afternoon, and I hadn’t put anything down on paper.

So, this week, I’ll spare you the random family story and just get to the good stuff – what’s going on at Kerby’s this week. First, on Saturday at 10 am, I’ll be teaching a New to Florida Gardening seminar. I teach this class with two audiences in mind. The first is anyone new to gardening. We’ll cover the basics of how to plant, water, and choose plants appropriately. The second is for folks who have gardened before, but are new to Florida, and are wondering why gardening is just a little bit different in this state. If you fall into either of those categories, join me on Saturday and I’ll help you find success in your Florida garden.

Thanks to everyone who came out this past weekend for the Spring Veggie Seminar. I love seeing so many people excited about growing their own food. Towards the end of the seminar, I also did an Earthbox Planting Demonstration which we managed to catch on video. Check it out below.

And besides some great learning opportunities, this is one of those times of year when so many cool things are coming into the nursery that it is hard to pick just a few to focus on. Fruit trees like Avocados, Plums, and Persimmons have arrived, not to mention tons of blooming Citrus. Flowers in all shapes, sizes, and colors are just waiting to be a part of your spring garden, and of course lots of beautiful hardy shrubs like Sunshine Ligustrum and Loropetalum are in to form the foundations of a colorful, hardy landscape.

If you are into houseplants, The Houseplant Shop is filled with foliage, but more importantly, this week we finally got in some lovely smaller pottery. Perfect for a Pothos, Philodendron, or Calathea. I managed to snap a few pictures of these beautiful pots, and I can’t pick which ones I like the best. Which are your favorites?

So, whether you are into veggies, fruits, flowers, or foliage, you’ll find something for your garden at Kerby’s. We can’t wait to see you.

Happy Gardening,

Plants Want to Grow!

100 mile-per-hour winds, torrential rains, falling trees, heavy equipment, and pruning were thrown at Joey’s bushes, and they just kept on growing.
