Why do some plants only bloom in the morning?

Some will close to protect the pollen since many of the pollinators that visit these flowers are sleeping at night. It’s also a way to conserve energy and water since flowering takes a lot of energy.

So if you see brand new Portulaca, Evolvulus Blue My Mind®, or even Hibiscus flowers expire that afternoon or evening, that’s totally normal. New flowers will emerge tomorrow, some may reopen.

To encourage the flowers to stay open longer, keep in full sun, water properly to establish the plant, and fertilize regularly with an all-purpose mix to promote lush foliage and continuous blooms.

So if you’re an early bird, try some of these flowers!

Anybody can sell you plants, we make sure you succeed.
